When I was in first grade in elementary, I remember this one girl who came up to me and told me that she hated my hair and that I should try to find other hairstyles such as straightening it. The second I've got this comment, I've never stopped thinking about my hair. I would always think that it was ugly and not pretty enough for people to like it... (482 words)

When her rights to be human are about to be taken from her, everyone around seems not to notice, a few who did were scared of the oppressor but onyinye knew she had to fight or become like the rest. How can you tell us Africans not to be Africans in Africa!!!

'Natural Hair and Hijab' is written for my afro textured sisters who are struggling with their frizzy, unmanageable hair, Hijab and all other social pressures that come with being awesome. This is not a hard and fast guide to growing or maintaing your natural hair.
