Without knowing, Aang ran away days before the attack and when Gabby found out he ran away, she went after him. A hundred years later, 18-year-old Katara and 19-year-old Sokka find Aang, Appa, and Gabby in the iceberg.

From the first moment that Serene met eyes with Prince Zuko, she felt a pull to him. Even though she was trying to get the Avatar to her home in the Northern Water Tribe and Zuko was her enemy, she felt something. As Aang, Katara, Sokka and Serene travel across the world, she can't seem to stop thinking about the Fire Nation Prince. But Serene needs to remember, those that play with fire - get burned.

Now she's rolling her eyes as she's writing down everything I say. I should just spew a bunch of nonsense that makes no sense. She'll have to write it down. She's contractually obliged to. Anyway, I suppose I should start making sense now. You're familiar with the concept of the Avatar. Master of all four elements, bridge between the spiritual and physical worlds, and so on. The Avatar died 14 years ago, after living to the ripe old age of 132 years. And I'll go ahead and tell you that his death was about 132 years too late. To make a very, very long story short, Avatar Palden was on a quest for power. And he got to the "top" (whatever that is), but not before he tore the entire world apart. I know you have questions, dear reader. "Why would the Avatar do that? He's supposed to bring balance!" "What kind of Avatar is that?" If anyone knows the answers to these questions, send me a letter, for spirits' sake. Even I don't know the answers. And you know what makes this whole story even more confusing? The guy was an Air Nomad! Born and raised! But enough about him. Even though there are more things going wrong then right in the world, and even though I'm stuck cleaning up Palden's mess, this isn't a story about him.
