Akaashi never understood the idea of love or something motivating him. I'm fine. He always said that. But the truth is he isn't fine, he's in pain, he's suffering, but he keeps saying 'I'm fine' so he won't have to explain. So he wouldn't have to explain how ever since his mother died he hasn't been fine. His dad started drinking and abusing him. He lost all of his friends. He gets bullied, he just wants to die but for some reason he can't. He's afraid and he doesn't want them to win this fight so he keeps going, even though every breath he takes he feels like is a waste, he still goes. For his mom, for his best friend that died years ago, and for himself. The words 'I'm fine' hold such a big meaning to him.
