The path of a Hashira is defined by a single, unwavering light: the sun. For Kyojuro Rengoku, the Flame Hashira, that light was more than a weapon; it was a creed. But what happens when the flame does not go out, but is instead smothered in a cage of eternal night?
The Divergence
The story begins at the climax of the Mugen Train. As the dust settles on the shattered tracks, the Upper Moon Three, Akaza, stands over a mortally wounded Kyojuro. In the original timeline, Kyojuro dies with a smile, his spirit unbroken.
But in this reality, Akaza's obsession with "saving" beautiful strength manifests as a desperate, forbidden act. Rather than fleeing the rising sun, Akaza uses a hidden technique-a blood-art of containment-to drag the dying Hashira into the shifting shadows of the Infinity Castle before the first ray of light can grant him peace.
"You look better in the dark, Kyojuro," Akaza whispered, his striped fingers tracing the jagged scar where the flame had almost gone out. "The sun only sought to burn you away. I am the only one who will let you burn forever."
