James had always felt useless compared to Sam. Sam was strong. Dependable. He always knew what to say and when to say it. He was confident and knew how to hold his own when being insulted. James, however? James was average. He struggled socially. He didn't know who he was or who he wanted to be and practically let himself be picked on. Or at least that's who James *was*. D-Day comes and goes. James finally has a sense of self-confidence and an identity. Sam is proud of him and aides him through this change, fighting alongside him until they finally reach Berlin. But James's new motive? He wants to be everything Sam is. He wants to make Sam obsolete.

Iris and Brandon Chavez were normal siblings living in New York City-they have their fights, go to school, etc. Until things aren't normal anymore. Brandon had been suspended from school, and Iris refused to go because of her broken arm and a few pimples on her face. Brandon informed Iris of his plan to go the the underground mall beneath the Trade Center where their dad worked and buy a toy that had been broken in the fight that got Brandon suspended. Iris reluctantly follows her brother into the elevator to the underground mall when their whole world explodes-literally. Separated from their dad, Brandon and Iris don't know if they can make it home alive.
