Six-year-old Alani was living the dream. With a mom and stepdad who treated her like a mini queen, a yellow playhouse in the backyard, and chocolate chip pancakes every Saturday, her life was perfect. Until, one day, it wasn't. Deciding parenthood just isn't for them anymore, her parents put her on a plane as an unaccompanied minor, shipping her from Ohio to Los Angeles. She arrives with nothing but the clothes on her back, a unicorn backpack, four extra outfits, and her trusty stuffed best friend, Sparklebutts. Waiting for her at the gate is a family she barely knows: her biological dad, Nate, who is terrified of suddenly being a full-time parent, and three older brothers who haven't seen her since she was a toddler. There's Jake (24), the eldest who runs the house on strict routines and rigid rules; Eli (22), the gentle peacemaker trying to hold everyone together; Jordan (12), the household menace whose main goal in life is pulling pranks; and Kennady (21), Eli's girlfriend who is just thrilled to finally have another girl in the house. Thrown into a chaotic household of boys who have no idea how to raise a little girl, Alani is just trying to be brave. But as walls slowly start to come down, this house full of strangers might just realize that the tiny, sparkly-butt-toting girl they didn't know how to love is exactly what they needed all along.

Most of you probably already know the beautiful story of Moana, but what if I were to tell you that Moana was born a boy named Mano and instead of Maui there is, Alani, the beautiful demi god of the wind and sea....
