Erin Lancaster lives with her mother, Alex Lancaster, who is an alcoholic. She works her life around her mothers needs and often excuses her own. She develops a few disorders of her own on her journey to be set free from an overbearing mother and learns what it is really like to be loved. So, I entered a writing contest where you had to write a short story/poem about a journey and I entered this story and I came in third! I hope you like it! :)

notice how small everything around us is--our jobs and our lives and our petty arguments? Love, hate, our life, our liberty, our Pursuits of Happiness, all of it is so tiny in the grand scheme of things, y'know? I mean, this world is rotating. And while its rotating, it's revolving around the sun--a sun that is so much bigger, so much brighter than the Earth that if we get too close, we die. And yet, to us, our problems seem so big! We underestimate, overlook, that, so much that its not even important to us. We rarely even think about how Mother Nature keeps herself in balance! I got the idea for Similar from one of these small elements of life. We've all stood outside our houses at one point in our lives in our pajamas. Now, imagine this: Its one of those cold, late October/early November mornings. Y'know, the kind that are freezing in the earlier hours and then get hotter as the day goes by? So. Imagine that. And while you're imagining it, imagine yourself, outside your house, taking out the trash. Your breath is coming up in silver clouds around you, your hands are frozen stiff. You look up and see your neighbor. You wave. They wave back. "Hi." "Hello." "How're you?" "Fine, and you?" "Okay." "Its getting cold out, isn't it?" "Yeah." A simple, early morning conversation. Now, take that simplicity of a freezing autumn morning and turn it into something more complex: A friend confiding in another friend the troubles of his/her mind. Cancer, abuse, Alchoholism, and then a little bit more of that simplicity--a small, "Thank you, Daddy." Next, stir in a friend's advice, a warm hug, and another thank you. Now, take into account the fact that everyone is similar. Yes, as far as personalities and physical appearance we're all vastly different, but we're looking a little bit deeper here. We all have skin, organs, tissues, cells, living, breathing bodies. And we all go through the same small things, no matter how dwarfed or drowned they are by our bigger

This is basically Sleep Token lore! I have not used any of the original band members identities, real names, locations or anything else relating to the people behind the band at all and I have replaced that with my own characters. There will definitely be head cannons - I promise they aren't outlandish - and it will most likely turn out to be a story that happens to be based on the band's lore, which I am okay with :p I will put the relevant TW's in the notes at the beginning of the chapter (if I missed any TW's, please comment it on the chapter affected so I can add it in) and enjoy!!

People dream of being different, in ways that no one can achieve. Others want to be free, others want to survive. Fighting for their life or for others. But being careful as when fighting monsters, they don't become monsters themselves. But why be different? To fulfill a purpose? To feel free? To get away from confinements? Or maybe to just watch a sunrise happen again, with a loved one or just a friend. Because tomorrow is another day. •cold-moth•

Loving and feeling isn't something Idthen wants, it was what caused his downfall. Deep into the past, he learned that love was the one thing ruining his life whilst fixing everyone else's. Though Idthen doesn't like his past, everyone has to have a beginning, and this is his. Idthen and Opal are best friends, always have been. After Idthen's 5th birthday though, things begin to spiral downhill. With Opal wanting a better life and Idthen only digging himself into deeper holes, it's a matter of time before their friendship falls apart. Though maybe... he wanted something else? All of that is lies take this instead: When a man loses something it's hard to really grasp reality back in its full capacity. Losing a mother, then a father, then a friend, Idthen is losing the last of his mind. Even when she comes back, and love shows warmth that he's never felt, everything feels fragile. Easily shattered like a whiskey bottle, like the one's he always seems to have nearer than his broken family.

Grey Portman must navigate through his losses while not totally ending things with himself as he still has people who are there for him, and he can't let them down. Instead of ending the pain, he tries numbing it... but things get out of hand.
