Księga wygląda podejrzanie ale kupuje ją po czym kiedy wraca do domu rzuca klątwę po raz pierwszy na swojej siostrze która przejęła cały majątek swoich rodziców. When Lilis was 14 she watched her family get murdered. Devastated by the destruction of her once perfect life, Lilis leaves her home. Desperate to get away from a place full of memories, Lilis travels far away, with the intention of getting as far from East Ravka as possible. Her plan gets ruined when she gets captured by Druskelle and placed on a slave boat. There, she meets Nina Zenik, a grisha Heartrender. Together they escape with the help of a fjerdan called Matthias. The trio meets Kaz Brekker and his crows and they band together to swipe a Sun Summoner.

Now many years have past and most of Aleksander's painful memories and scars have healed, but when Lex Luther comes to town things get turned upside down. Now Aleksander and his adopted brother, Clark, must try and keep their secrets from being revealed.

In the first movie Dominik dies, but that's not what happened, In Suicide Room 2 it is known that he almost killed himself, after being put through the hospital and therapy, he finally decided to go back to school, he meets a new girl named Miley, he doesn't realize that Miley is related to an old friend of his, Aleksander. Miley and him become good friends, he tries to get closer to Aleksander, but can't, it's only with the help of Miley that he gets the time he wants to spend with Aleksander, at first Aleksander only hangs out with Dominik to please his sister. But as they hang out more, he begins to grow feelings for Dominik.

"Do you know the only thing more powerful than you or me? The two of us. Together." He had said to her, never imagining that he would be proved right in the form of two small children who could summon the sun and the shadows.
