In writing Mustang in France I developed a complete backstory for the main character, Marc Suchet. The more I worked the more scenes from earlier in his story flashed in my head. My plan is to eventually have at least 20,000 words about Marc's first combat tour and have it be its own complete stand alone story. When I started writing Mustang in France I wanted to write a good aerial combat story. It quickly took a hard turn into what it is now. My plan for this prequel is to go back and write a good combat flying story. No love interest, maybe losing a girl, but the focus will be on his time with the 48th and 94th Fighter Squadrons.
