Your mind is a burning room, a drowning storm, and a torturing fairy-tale all at once. Now, descend through its layers and discover what waits in the one place even the flames can't reach. Sad Sundays is my weekly space to share melancholic poetry, words that help me navigate the stillness, the weight, and the quiet storms of recovery. Each Sunday, I post a new piece that I've written, using poetry to process my journey through detox and rehab, to face the difficult parts of healing, and to find meaning in the silence. Every poem is written by hand with help from the Rhymezone platform. This series is as much for me as it is for anyone who finds comfort in knowing they're not alone on their gray days. I will eventually try to tie most of my work together into a larger piece, but first and foremost, this will function as a collection of my writings while I am going through detox. This work borders on the Nigeria Civil / Biafra war, and how it has impacted the world and its various institutions. It shows that it is a war that has not only local impact, but has influenced researchers and strengthened their work in diverse areas. Mention is made of 'Institutional Kwashiorkor', and we also look at the way forward and what it means - if anything - to be Biafran today.

Gabriele ha un potere speciale ed è quello di vivere attraverso gli altri. Ciò che vedono gli altri lo vede anche lui e ciò che risentono gli altri lo risente anche lui. Conosce la vita di un mucchio di gente, quindi, ma ciò non viene senza sacrificare qualcosa e nel caso di Gabriele a fare da agnello sacrificale è la sua di vita. A 35 anni Gabriele si ritrova però privato di questa capacità ed è perciò costretto a vivere nel proprio corpo. Giostrarsi in un'esistenza completamente vuotata di rapporti e senza risultati degni di nota non è però così semplice. Tra suo fratello che lo odia, sua madre che lo vede come un fallimento personale, Anna che vive a centinaia di chilometri di distanza e Giulia che non l'ha mai veramente provato a capire, sua nipote Francesca è l'unica a stargli accanto. In questo clima Gabriele si racconta e attraverso sé stesso rivela le difficoltà che le relazioni presentano e la paura onnipresente della solitudine e della propria incomunicabilità. Il tutto senza mai smettere di provare a costruirsi in quanto persona e a ritrovare quel rapporto all'altro che fino ad allora aveva rifiutato.

Trapped by a matriarchal system that views unmarried women as burdens, the protagonist attempts to escape through a performative marriage to a transient stranger. This union acts as a temporary simulation of freedom, eventually collapsing into a cycle of debt, displacement, and emotional abandonment. Despite the ultimate failure of the relationship and her return to a state of poverty and isolation, she finds a grim clarity in her circumstances. She transitions from a victim of familial rations to a silent witness of her own life, using writing as a tool to document the cage she inhabits. Ultimately, the text illustrates a harrowing journey through a landscape of social rejection and the search for an authentic self amidst systemic erasure.
