The Green Forest of the Alkaran Desert was never meant to survive. It stood where sand devoured all things, breathing in defiance of sun and time. Beneath its roots lay an ancient vow-one life bound so the forest might endure. Generations fed the promise, believing sacrifice was the price of survival. But the desert remembers every debt. And when the forest began to fail, it did not call for another offering. It called for an ending.
