Simon, a runaway prince, has made his decision. He will return to the very home he ran away from and resume his duties as royalty. The king is sick. Possibly dying. The kingdom is in disarray and Simon knows that if he doesn't fix it, then nobody will. Kerri was orphaned at a young age and considered a street rat ever since. He's had people to help take care of him, Simon included, and while he wants to do his best to help Simon, he can't help but feel betrayed by Simon's decision. Perhaps throughout their journey, Kerri can convince Simon to go back home together.
