When Wymack goes to recruit Neil, instead of gratitude for showing interest in a kid that the rest of the world had written off as a lost cause, he gets hit with an ultimatum: "You have to take him too," He'd said "It's a two-for-one deal. He won't even argue, I promise." Judging by Coach Hernandez's shocked and mildly pissed-off look, he hadn't been expecting it either. Wymack wasn't a man who liked to be deceived. He'd just spent the last twenty minutes trying to convince a kid to join his team, and before he'd even signed the papers he was trying to cut a deal with him. Well, one thing was for sure, the kid had balls. Major balls. Wymack threw a quick glance over to Neil's soon-to-be former coach, all he got in response though, was a light shrug as his brain struggled to catch up to what was happening. "Well..." Kevin wouldn't like this, and Andrew would probably hate it even more, but the two had also said they needed Neil. 'No matter what'. Had been Kevin's words. What else was he supposed to do? "Is he any good?" He asked tiredly. Being met with silence was much more worrying than it should have been.

The Foxes are everything he's not prepared for: too nosy for their own good, too suspicious, and even more broken than he is. Shiloh feels unmoored, unable to find his place among the aggressive and distrustful team. Then he gains the interest of two of his teammates, the violent and dangerous Andrew Minyard and the mysterious and skittish Neil Josten, who see straight through Shiloh's lies and seem to refuse to let him disappear quietly. They seem to see Shiloh in a way that Shiloh isn't used to. Playing exy is easy. Finally learning that he might actually be worth keeping around is not.

aspen henderson has played exy ever since she could walk, and was always the best on her teams. the girl lived and breathed the sport, her mother being her biggest role model. aspen's mother played for the trojans in college and right after went pro and even made it to the olympics, her team taking home silver. aspen's father however has always seen the sport as a waste of time. he was constantly worried his wife or daughter would get hurt playing. when aspen was 15 her mother was killed in an accident on her way to a game, her father of course blamed the sport for her mother's death, forbidding aspen from ever touching a stick again. he even went as far as breaking apsen's arm in the middle of her junior year season. she feared she would never get signed for a college team or even possibly never play again. she played in her team's last game of the season of her senior year but was nowhere near her best, the team won but no thanks to her. she watched as her friends were approached by college coaches and handed business cards. aspen just wanted to come home, until a tall man stopped her, and next to him was a small boy with ginger hair and a bright orange hoodie with the words: palmetto state foxes.

The plot mostly belongs to Dreamworks Animation and the characters belong to Nora Sakavic. If you only know one of these fandom then I suggest checking out the other as well. If you know both, yay! Edited on 4/19/22 Neil passes out because of his injuries from playing too hard. Who comes to his aid?! (This takes place specifically during The King's Men Chapter 5 after they won the game and Neil talked to the press. He pushed Kevin and had that argument in French. This Fanfiction starts from there. Keep in mind that (at the time) I just finished reading that part and that part only so there may be some inconsistencies with what happens in the next chapter of the book. Like the tattoo, I didn't know whether Neil covered it up again or not.)
