Zara hates Shakespeare. So when a mix up lands her in a semester long Shakespeare class, she expects nothing short of torture. But then she's partnered up with the unusual Jonathan Brandt, setting the foundation for a strange form of friendship as they study their first play, Romeo and Juliet. Before long, it becomes clear that there's much more to Jonathan than meets the eye. In fact, the more Zara learns, the more she realizes how similar her own life is to the old play, full of complexities and conflicts. She has the warring families, the important friendships, the responsibility to loved ones. Maybe even the romance. Problem is, there's no denying that the original Romeo and Juliet ended badly for the both of them. And when long standing rivalries begin to emerge--and she and Jonathan are caught in the middle--it starts to look as though this story might be just as messy. ••• A/N: This story does NOT in any way follow the exact plot of Romeo and Juliet. Some characters and events are inspired by the play, but you won't know what's going to happen just because you've read R&J.

In this AU, people are born with grey eyes, and the only colors you can see are black, white, and whatever comes in-between. That is, until you touch your soulmate. Then the spectrum is revealed, and your eyes turn to their true color. David, a nineteen year-old University student, goes out to a party one night with his best friend and roommate Jonathan. The next morning, he wakes up alone in an airport. He sees in color. The world is bright and splendid, except for one problem. He doesn't know who his soulmate is. A story of passion, hate, confusion, and a vast cast of characters, venture with David as he begins his journey back home while searching desperately for his one true love.

The world is plagued by an unknown virus that turns people into flesh eating creatures, and all that is left are industrial outposts set up by the survivors -- but there is one very peculiar thing: the outside world is beautiful. Where the so-called 'zombies' reside, rolling hills of flowers sprawl at the feet of mountains, rivers run blue across blooming landscapes, and animals roam free without the threat of hunters. But, on the other hand, life in an outpost is anything but desirable. People mull along in sleepy demeanors, laboring until their bones break. It seems as if they're more zombie-like than the zombies themselves.

Being a higher power requires a great amount of responsibility. He or she may never turn their back on his or her commitments. This is who demonstrates judgement. However, there is no longer any judgement. That higher power is nonexistent.
