In the timeline of Lord George Carnarvon of Tutankhamun fame there are many myths and legends and indeed lies ( including damned lies ). These lies surround the life and times and death of George Edward Stanhope Molyneux Herbert, the 5th Earl of Carnarvon ( formerly Lord Porchester ) of Highclere Castle, famed as the co-discoverer with his devoted lover Howard Carter of the Tomb of the boy King Tutankhamun in Egypt in 1922. Before the centenary let us hope the historical record is corrected and the truths told.
