Almost Human is a collection of poems about survival, softness, and the quiet and necessary distance that comes after harm. Moving through images of war rooms and infirmaries, candlelight and starlight, imitation and restraint, these poems touch on what it means to remain human in the presence of those who perhaps never were. This is not a book about revenge or resolution, but about observation, integration, and learning how to stop offering light to things that only know how to consume it. For readers who have loved deeply, waited too long, survived quietly, and learned that healing does not always arrive loudly; Almost Human is a record of what remains.

"John." I watched helplessly as the detective glanced over to me, a crooked smile gracing his features. "Yes?" My heart pounded violently against my chest as I found the floor fascinating. "I'm scared..." My voice trailed off, before cringing at my own words. I was never good at expressing what I felt to others, it just felt wrong. "Hey, look at me." He stood up from his desk, and lifted my chin, eyes flickering across my face, causing me to blush. "I'm sorry." "Victoria, you don't have to be a shamed of being scared." His warm breath lightly fanned across my face, sending a chill down my spine, "But you don't have to worry. I will always be here to protect you." When it is confirmed to Castiel that Dean Winchester is dead he spends more time than he planned to on grieving. He gets stuck on the heaven floor because of his depleting stolen grace. After it being painfully ripped out he is now human and he plans on finding some way to bring his beloved back.

Most of these may one day be reincarnated into a full length book of their own, if my creativity allows. I'll try to upload something on here at least once every week and a half.
