"Choose, Sage." my grandfather's cold voice echoed through the room. "Your family, your own blood... or Agam?"
I stood frozen, the heavy weight of my family's empire pressing down on me. A few feet away, Agam. His hands were tucked casually into his pockets, his crisp suit flawless, and a slow, beautiful smirk playing on his lips.
He didn't look worried. He didn't even look like he was trying to compete.
"I choose my family." I said, forcing the words out of my throat. I expected anger. I expected him to snap.
Instead, Agam didn't even flinch. His dark eyes locked onto mine, completely empty of shock. He just stood there, looking at me. The absolute stillness in his posture was more terrifying than any shout.
"Go ahead then, angel." he murmured, his voice a low, smooth caress that vibrated right through the quiet room. "Walk out that door. Go back to your family."
He leaned forward just a fraction, his shadow swallowing me whole while his hands stayed strictly back. "But we both know you'll come back to me. Because nobody else can love you the way I do."
