In the summer of 2019 I climb the Matterhorn looking for closure after a tragic death 20 years earlier. This story takes you on a personal quest up the steep ridgeline, flashing back to memories of childhood and commemorating my brother.

Otzi is a man who's corpse was discovered perfectly preserved in the ice of the Alps (Germany) Researchers tried and still try to learn exactly what happened to him, who he was in his life. In this story I create a story for him, one that I will connect into a string of short stories.

Hey guys:) I know you are supposed to present an extract of your story in this but I want to say something before I do that. This is my first ever story and I'm super excited. I don't expect many people to read this but if you do, welcome! I've always loved queer love stories because of the depth and yearning most I've read portrayed . I am queer myself so I feel extra connected to these kind of stories. Normally I'm more of a consumer and not a creator but on family vacation in Austria I had a vision with one employee that works here so this story is a result of my daydreaming. His whole life may seem boring but Theo enjoys the silence and the comfort that comes with it. Their old chef Richard quit and a new guy named Carlo takes the job. Firstly Theo can't except the new person in his life but quickly they get to know each other and develop more than just a friendship. On their way they face different personal problems and find comfort in the presence of the other person.

This is a short story from my 2003 collection of 21 short stories entitled "Our First Year." This collection describes with humor our first year living abroad in the small alpine village of Tret, Italy. The stories are shared scenes of life and personalities in a Tyrolean village from an American point of view. As a newcomer, life in Tret is explored through conflicting cultures, people and a variety of languages.

"Excuse me, but who is this lovely woman sitting in front of me?" A deep, husky voice said, which I assumed belonged to the boy who smelled like the woods. "That's Princess Elle," Mia said, then giggled. I shot daggers at her and turned around to face the boy. When I saw his face, I practically melted. *** Elle Sorensen just broke up with her boyfriend, Darren, who she's been with since her Sophmore year of high school. Now a freshman in college and feeling as free as a bird, Elle and her friends go up and stay in a cabin in the mountains of Sweden. There, she encounters a boy who might just change her life for the better.

It's only been a year since the tragic -- and preventable -- death of her girlfriend on the upper slopes of Mont Blanc and record-setting celebrity mountaineer Jen Campbell is allegedly ready to heal, focus on the here and now, and move forward with her life.
