From the very ballast underneath the tracks, to the machines that thunder up and down those tracks, to the stations and terminals, to the freight yards, to the very nuts and bolts and rivets and welds of the rolling stock, to the architecture of the railroad buildings, and last but certainly not least, to the people that keep them running smoothly. Focus won't be on the rails for the first part of the story, mostly character and setting development and the interactions between the characters and other story elements.
