Yes, she'd stopped. She knew. But he spoke like it was so simple, like she was just some amateur afraid of the stage. He had no clue what this felt like, that it wasn't the scene that made her chest tight. It was looking at him. She put a full foot of distance between them. "I know how to act, Boris!" He stood there, unmoved. "Then show me." Her nails dug into her palms. No. She wasn't going to let him break her. She pulled her shoulders back, took a breath, and planted her feet.
