Phil was angry at everything. He was angry at the drunk diver who killed his mum, he was angry at his dad for moving Phil and his brother to Florida, he was angry at the brokenness of his family. After his mum had died, Phil had cut himself off from everyone, vowing that he would never fall in love to let anyone in again, for fear of being hurt. He had walls up that he would never let down. That is, until he met Dan. The boy that would break down every wall, the one that would show him that he could let people in. Dan Howell is an average FanBoy of the well known Youtuber AmazingPhil. Like everyone else, he stalks Phil on twitter, goes to his shows and one day gets to meet him. But when Phil sees dan, he isn't like everyone else. He's different, he's special.. [TW: talks of suicide]

It's a start of a new school year and Phil is sent to an all boys boarding school and automatically becomes friends with Dan within the first few days. Eventually both start questioning their sexuality and feelings towards each other but being in an all boy boarding school makes things complicated and even a little out of hand. With most boys living there being homophobic (over time, even the teachers seem to be like it too) Dan and Phil are caught showing their feelings to one another. Soon enough, this leads into becoming the end of their happy school experience and it becomes hell for them each day, it gets extremely worse when they think it was impossible; they start getting physically beaten, words start getting to them and the teachers are in on it too. The school seems like a prison and they can't escape it. Will they stay together? What action will they take to stop this humiliation? Will they be able to take a whole year of this?
