Her people turn on her thinking that she must have done something terrible to lose the selection to Celeste. America was forced to live as a 7 after her parents died. Maxon and Celeste have been engaged for a year. They hate being together as a couple. Maxon has to go to Carolina on business. Celeste stays at the palace.
