She would much rather be riding horses and sitting in on meetings with her father's two apprentices than sipping tea and sewing on samplers. However, she soon learns what it means to be in a war. Her sheltered world is shattered by loss as the war begins, and her parents see the need to hurry her impending arranged marriage in order to secure the future of their business. Through all the tragedy, Liza must learn to use her brain, be resilient, and never cease to be a light to those who are suffering.
