It's an alternate ending, Maxon chose Kriss because he was heartbroken over America and the king and queen weren't killed. This is a multiple perspective story, flipping between Maxon and America, and the occasional extra characters. What will happen? Several hundred years after the selection of Maxon and America comes a new book. A new king, a new queen and new princes and princess.
