"Nurse Kay" a voice yelled out. I glanced up as I heard footsteps approaching us. Coming down the hall was Father Raul followed by an older lady holding a girls hand. She was about seventeen and looked around the big home as if confused by it. "Yes Father Raul" replied Kay as she left me standing there and walked over to them. "This is Vera" Father Raul spoke. "She's going to be staying with us for a few months. She's almost eighteen but for now she's been placed here. Please help her get settled." I looked the young girl up and down. She was oddly dressed. She wore a long solid color brown dress. She wore her long blonde hair in a braid running down her back. From under the long dress I could see the black leather shoes she wore. She looked as if she belonged in another century. It didn't take away the fact that she was very beautiful. The innocent way in which she looked around amazed at everything was even kind of cute. "Don't even think about it Rick" said Kay cutting me out of my thoughts. "What are you talking about" I replied as I turned to her and flashed her a smile. "Oh please, save yourself the speech'' she said rolling her eyes. ''Come one sweetie. Ignore this necio" she said as she took Vera's hand. "Let's show you your room." Confused by the words; Vera turned to me as she was hauled away by Kay. Her green eyes studied me quietly as I gave her a smile and a small wave. She didn't wave or smile back. Just stared at me until they turned a corner at the other end of the hall. "What a beautiful weirdo." I said to myself as I continued mopping the floors of the orphanage.
