Thomas gazed into his best friend's eyes - the only one who has been with him since the beginning - and finally smiled. "You better be right." Darwin put on the same cheeky grin. "Always, buddy." Thomas is curious, smart, quick, realistic, and stubborn. Darwin is ordinary, intelligent, patient, confident, and rational. How are they so close? Thomas and Darwin came up out the Box, same as all the other Gladers. The difference is the two came up together. They seem to have some sort of connection, like they were meant to be together. But that's impossible! WICKED would have kept them apart. The maze could handle one hero, how about two?
