Edgar Allan Poe's short story 'The Cask of Amontillado' is the story of a man named Montresor who decides to seek revenge against a man named Fortunato, who has insulted him. He meets Fortunato at a carnival, lures him into the catacombs of his home, and buries him alive.

This is my take on what happened after the events of Edgar Allan Poe's "The Cask of Amontillado".

A week long vacation in the Italian Carnival season is the perfect getaway for Amielia. This misunderstood loner constantly slips away from her family for a little uncharted adventure of her own.

What happened before Montressor buried Fortunato behind a wall and left him to die? What made Montressor seek revenge? In the dark parts of Italy, during the war that has shook the land, James Montressor finds love in a beautiful, but poor woman. She soon falls ill, and James is willing to do anything to save her. And where does Isaac Fortunato fit into this? Well you will just have to read to find out wont you?

The Cask of Amontillado" is a powerful tale of revenge. Montresor, the sinister narrator of this tale, pledges revenge upon Fortunato for an insult. Montresor intends to seek vengeance in support of his family motto: "Nemo me impune lacessit."("No one assails me with impunity.") here is the master piece of Edgar Allan Poe.

This story was an assignment for my English class and it takes place after the events in "The Cask of Amontillado".

After the events of the carnival, and Montresor's attempt at Fortunato's demise, Montresor hears word of Fortunato's return. Little does he know, Fortunato is back for revenge, and will stop at nothing to get it. But the 21st century is vastly different from 18th century Italy. Due to a series of unfortunate events, word of Fortunato's return escapes and someone from his past has alternative motives for revenge. We have all heard or read of the original story of "The Cask of Amontillado" by Edgar Allan Poe, however; what exactly happened to Montresor that caused him to seek revenge against Fortunato? This is my story of a "before" version to one of Poe's greatest pieces of literature.
