Things aren't going too well in the kingdom of Gushénn. The very oasis it's built upon is drying up, the border conflicts with the savages are becoming worse, and the royal family is starting to fall apart. And, to make matters worse, an elite group of anarchists has joined forces to kill King Vincent and steal his throne. Against her will, the infamous assassin Alister finds herself in the thick of things. She trained for her entire life to become the perfect human weapon, able to kill a man a dozen ways without batting an eye. The entire life that she's built for herself starts to crumble, however, as she's blackmailed into banding with the anarchists. But Rose Alister isn't as immoral as she seems. Even as an angel of death, she still finds that there are limits to what she is willing to do for money. Because of that, her loyalty and support for Prince James--the king's unappreciated and unstable younger son--become her greatest hindrance and her most crippling dilemma. For the first time in her life, she cannot bring herself to kill without remorse. As the anarchy plot within the kingdom thickens, assassin and prince come together. It's up to them to decide whether the kingdom is worth saving, even as they are forced to determine if they can first save themselves. Faced with a multitude of conflicts, Rose and James must put pride aside and learn to work together. But how can two clashing personalities hope to join forces and fix themselves, let alone mend a crumbling kingdom? (Disclaimer: "On The Edge of a Blade" addresses heavy themes. I was reading Supernova (it destroyed me btw) and decided to do some more Renegades stuff so here ya go. Once again none of these are mine, I found most of them on tumblr. Hope you laugh at least slightly while reading, forcefully exhaling air through your nose works too. Spoiler warning for all 3 books and there might be a few swear words here and there

The mysteries of Renegades are resolved as Adrian puts all of the pieces together. Follow Adrian and Nova as they struggle with their secret identities and attempt to find a way to stay together against all odds. An essay I wrote for school that I liked which compares the concept of doublethink in the book 1984 by George Orwell to modern America

Somewhere, Northwest, 1951 Sue Lee could smell gasoline; apparently, they stopped for fuel. She was about to shout when she heard the creaking sound of the trailer door opening. "Dammit, he must have a set of extra ears. He's going to use that blasted peek hole again." She quickly tore a piece of her blouse, shoving it down the hole, watching it drop onto the pavement before rolling back into bed, moaning to cover up her movements, hoping he would assume she was still in a drug-induced state. Sue Lee's head was turned toward the wall but could see a small circle of light from the peek hole when he opened it. "Come in here, you bastard, I will kill you." The peek hole light went out. In a short time, they were moving again. They seem to be driving endlessly. "When did he sleep? Dammit, at this rate, I'll run out of clothing." She looked again where he must have torn her blouse, carrying her into the trailer. Tearing it once more, she shoved another piece of clothing through the hole, hoping to leave a trail. "Maybe I should leave something more provocative, but I need my bra to choke the bastard."

This poem's anti-capitalist theme is simple enough to understand. I'd like to point out that this poem is an example of alliterative verse, a type of meter common in older Germanic poetry. Pay careful attention to the alliteration in this poem.
