This is an alternate continuation of my other book, The Rookie - Reincarnated (Tim x OC).
This version is Angela Lopez x OC. Yes, I know - I couldn't let it go.
If you've stumbled onto this story first, please go read The Rookie - Reincarnated up to Chapter 26 before starting here. Everything before that point is shared, and this story only makes sense if you've read it. Chapter 26 is where the timeline splits and I make some questionable but heartfelt decisions.
The same OC (Nora Gracia), the same past, and a different "what if?"
(Apparently I'm writing multiple endings now. This is who I am.)
Nora didn't ease into the world of The Rookie. She woke up in it - no past, no childhood, no history of her own. Just the unsettling knowledge that these people, these streets, this job... were supposed to be fiction.
Four months into her rookie year, she gets shot.
She survives - barely - and while her body heals, something else breaks open. Memories surface in fragments, dragged up by pain and unconsciousness. A life before this one. Loss. Language. Death. And pieces of this body's past, too - things she never had access to before.
Now she's back on her feet, still a probationary officer, still pretending she's fine, still trying to make sense of who she is and who she's been - all while keeping her secrets intact.
Angela Lopez is still her training officer. Sharp. Relentless. Someone who keeps showing up far more than necessary during Nora's recovery. Hospital visits turn into check-ins. Check-ins turn into something harder to ignore. Nora insists it's nothing. She definitely did not hit her head hard enough to suddenly notice how unfairly attractive her T.O. is. That would be ridiculous.
Between a second life she never asked for, memories that won't stay buried, and a partner who refuses to walk away, Nora is doing her best to survive her rookie year without unraveling.
It's manageable. Probably.
...Fuck.
