Aethelwin is a Peaceweaver. Niece to the King of Northumbria, she is married at the age of 13 in order to strengthen support against Aelle, the would be usurper of King Osbert's throne. But guaranteeing the support of strangers who have their own agendas is no easy task. Aethelwin finds herself not only on the wrong side of the debilitating civil war, but at the mercy of a family and a village who blame her for their hardships. Then, just as she finds the means to change her fate, history intercedes. Ivarr the Boneless and his two brothers, Halfdan and Ubba, have laid claim to York. Aethelwin is flung into a world of chaos and panic as she fights against the Danes and even her own people, to bring her brother out of his stronghold in the north and restore her beloved Northumbria. But at what cost will she fight for a Kingdom in the final throws of death.

A great christian kingdom ruled by a few men. A young woman fighting hard to make her place among those few men, to rule the great Mercia from behind the closed doors. Her only weapon-Words. An impetuous old king who will listen to whoever talked to him last. And a Prince, a warrior stuck in the politics of the court, trying to sort out the mess this kingdom has become-Oligarchy under the guise of Sovereignty. Will the men let a woman join their elite governing body? Will the woman manage to survive, even if she get in? Will the Prince sort it out or will he get sucked deeper and deeper into the chaos? (Oh and of course there's the whole love-hate drama y'all like) Set in the backdrop of Viking invasions and Northumbria's rise to power, conflict is in the air. And what better time to snatch and consolidate power than the season of War!

Daphne lived a quiet and peaceful life in a small village in Northumbria. She would even describe it as boring. She had some friends and a family, however she didn't really feel truly happy. Some times she would even find herself hoping that something different would happen, something that would change her life and the plans of her arranged future. But that didn't mean she ever wished for the destruction of her village. Neither for the death of her people. And certainly not for herself being a captive in the hands of a ruthless viking.

Now, deep in the forbidden forest a gorgeous young woman with eyes as green as the flourished forest and hair as red as fire resided there along with her befriended talking bear. Although, when she overhears news of a rebellious group planning to overthrow the queen she begins to experience a whirlwind of mystery and events. As she grows and she fights for her family and for her kingdom's rights and safety she will learn things of herself and her family that threaten to tear her down till she is mere bone. On this journey she will turn from a child to a woman and become the queen she was always bred to be. ----------------------------------------------- This is a novel I began writing last year for NaNoWriMo. I just wanted some opinions and comments on it so far, in particular the 2 Prologues that have been posted. I love both Prologues so much but obviously I cannot put both into my story so opinions on the one you like better is greatly appreciated :)

An anglo-saxon poem from the 10th century, Exeter Book. I'm not the autor. I don't know who the autor was. But he died over a thousand years ago and left no copyright claims.

The situation becomes even more complicated when Abbot Hildiuald, who is involved in the conflict, makes his sudden appearance in the halls. Written in an "archaic" style, the meanings of Old English words are put in brackets.
