Tavi knows Blackbriar Wood better than anyone who has never been there. Born blind and raised in his family's Wayhouse, the young mouse has spent his whole life recording roads other people get to travel. He knows every bridge, warning bell and route report for miles-and he is desperate for an adventure of his own. Then the Rifts begin behaving strangely. Animals flee in the wrong directions. A colossal horned creature appears outside the town walls. And when frightened townsfolk blame a witch for summoning it, Tavi asks the question no one else seems interested in: What has she actually done? His search for the truth uncovers an old road erased from modern maps, a ruined arch called Stormgate, and evidence that the creature may not be attacking the town at all. With a sharp-tongued traveller named Brin and the decidedly suspicious witch Veyra beside him, Tavi is about to discover that knowing a road is very different from travelling one. And some roads were forgotten for a reason.

It's the birthplace of a legend. And it. Has. Awakened. --- Side Note from the Author: While The Coop Awakens is an imagined universe shaped by the spirit of Star Wars, it's lovingly based on true chickens, ducks, and events from my own backyard flock. Woody, Roscoe, Percy, and the others are all real birds-each with their own quirks and personalities. But in real life, Woody never harmed Roscoe. This saga reimagines their world through an epic, mythical lens.
