Dalam cerpen ini, mengisahkan seorang roh hutan pria yang bisa memiliki wujud seperti manusia dengan perhitungan usia yang berbeda dengan manusia, roh hutan masih bisa berwujud manusia apabila ia tidak bersentuhan dengan manusia. Namun, karena refleks perbuatan Gin yang menolong anak manusia agar tidak terjatuh terbentur tanah, membuat Gin dan Hotaru harus terpisah. Gin kembali ke wujud roh hutan yang asli, yaitu sebuah cahaya seperti kunang dan tidak bisa lagi menemui Hotaru dalam wujud manusia, bahkan tak bisa berbicara dengan Hotaru dalam wujud roh hutan. Walaupun di surat Gin menuliskan ia berharap Hotaru menemukan pria yang bisa membahagiakan dan mencintainya seperti dirinya, namun ia terus berupaya untuk bisa kembali ke wujud manusianya. Gin di dunianya pun berusaha untuk mengembalikan wujudnya agar bisa menjadi seperti manusia kembali, usahanya membuahkan hasil setelah 100 tahun lamanya, hingga ia mendatangi tempat ia menaruh surat sebagai bukti keberadaannya di dunia roh. Itulah yang mempertemukannya dengan Yato, yang ternyata cucu dari Hotaru, bahkan hingga saat ini pun Gin belum mengetahui fakta tersebut dan masih menanti kedatangan Hotaru. The Hamura family had wolf blood running through their veins but none of them had wolf Characteristics until their son Daisuke presented with wolf qualities they decided to send him along with his youngest son to the countryside so they don't have to deal with them. Daisuke didn't care since the house that was bought for him and his little brother was nice and it was under his name and it had a small Orchard that he decided to take care of so they could have fruits and vegetables for them to eat and they could sell them as well. Their neighbour Ms.Hana would come to visit them and would give them company sometimes Mr. Nirasaki would show up to tell him that his doing a great job with his plants. They enjoy their life in their new home months pass and Daisuke meets a guy around his age named Ame in the forest one day. warning ⚠️ bad spelling and grammar! credits to the owners of wolf children and the owners of the images used in the story.
