Disclaimer: This story is based on an Europa Universalis IV alternate history mod: Ante Bellum, this story specifically covers a timeline where the Umayyad Caliphate of Cordoba survives the attempted reconquista of the Christians led by Francia, colonized the new world, spread Islam throughout the globe, and made it through the centuries becoming a modernized Islamic state. (Credit to Parmelion for the Ante Bellum mod) After trials and tribulations, wars fought and rebellions quelled, only for another to come. Al-Andalus is truly a unique state, built by a disgraced dinasty after facing a rebellion, losing the title of "Khalifah" to said rebellion, and fled the chaos to a fringe region where most of it's inhabitants don't even speak Arabic or practice Islam. Al-Andalus has became a place where Christians, Muslims and Jews live side by side, such tolerance was never heard of in that time period. Granted, toleration can only go so far when you're surrounded by hostile neighbors. But by some miracle, Al-Andalus prevails. With the discovery of the Americas, the Andalusians were presented with an opportunity. After the Nizzarid pretender of Egypt cut of routes from India, the Andalusians could make up for the lost trade for an oceanic Empire, and use that funding to find alternative route to India. This empire building slowly snowballing Andalusia to become the world's naval hegemon, with territories covering from Kalifurniya to Malaya. Reforms and previously flawed system of equality were rectified, religious converts at an all time high, economy is booming. But alas, just like any colonial empire. It has to come to an end eventually, the Neo-Kharijites faning the flames of revolution across the Caliphate, most breakaway peacefully, others by force. And thus, the Andalusian golden age come to an end. But in year 1976, whilst the nation faces economic stagnation, A GATE has appeared in the city of Ishbiliya, and the Caliphate finds an opportunity.

1864 Not all southern people were wealthy plantation owners but that's the one's we always read about and hear about. No, some of us were small farmers with little to our names and even though we were poor we still had one thing that made us superior, the color of our skin. It made us acceptable no matter how ignorant or poor. I was raised 2 miles away from Magnolia plantation, what a marvelous place. I use to love walking over to it with my mama as a small girl. As I became of age, I started working there. I couldn't find my place, I had no place. I was not wealthy or accepted by the higher society, but I was too high to associate with the slaves. I was truly alone as I spent my days. I found my place, or so I thought for only a brief moment in time, living in that moment it felt as if it may never end. With all things in life a choice was to be made, a choice I failed in making. Now looking back it was only a swift memory that haunts me. What I found was something that was not to ever be, the memory reminds me of the smell of daisies. I am going to tell the forbidden story of an untouched subject in the south, the record of this story were scattered and details lost along the years but inside the heart the story doesn't end. Even when I learned there was no gray line between black and white and no such thing as only one love. SMUDGES

Agatha Eve Irvine, an otiose young girl is sent to find a job as a cure for her discourteous ways. She arrives at the Lonehaven Ranch when the only available job flies into her face while walking down a street in Yellowville, Kentucky. The girl takes on this labor with no other option, not knowing what to expect and with little eagerness to get her hands dirty by working the ways of the country. The RE÷Union roadmap includes five novels as cannon, spanning the 1830s, 40s, 50s, Civil War, and Reconstruction. We start the series with a long lost friend of the Miller family, holed up in a dilapidated cabin, nestled high in the mountains of Colorado around 1885. Staving off the symptoms of a terminal sickness, thoughts become overwhelming and reality sets in that this story is going to die too, in that old cabin, which will probably rot into nothingness, the family's secrets and hidden possessions along with it. Rummaging through crates and boxes of old artwork, journals, photographs and publications, it becomes clear how important this story is. There indeed still is a legacy to leave behind. These heroes (and a few villains) should not be relegated to the stodgy, mundane existence that the general populace insists they knew. What follows is an attempt to piece together the adventure this family shared, across the continent of America and around the world, witnessing unimaginable social and technological change, tied within a network of stunningly courageous and creative family and friends. Premise I was forced against my will to summarize the premise of RE÷Union as follows (to be used as a pitch in an elevator or some other awkward social setting): An adventurous writer-artist duo conspires to share hidden stories about explosive cultural change and westward expansion in the decades leading up to the American Civil War.

This is my analysis of American Slavery in the Ante-Bellum based off of Frederick Douglass's experiences: specifically his autobiography 𝘔𝘺 𝘉𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘔𝘺 𝘍𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘰𝘮.

Franklin's Backstory follows the history of one of the main characters of Where Fortune Lies, a time-slip mystery. Born a slave on a South Carolina plantation, Franklin runs away at the age of 12. Instead of escaping north, he flees east. Captain Griggs, a merchant sea captain, takes Franklin under his protection. Thus begins Franklin's life as a world citizen. He learns to navigate, becomes a quartermaster, and travels to six of the seven continents. He reads extensively, educates himself, and becomes multilingual. After the death of Griggs, Franklin's life takes many unexpected turns. He eventually settles as a dealer in gems in Paris. The color of his skin, his distant manner, and fear of forming close bonds means he has few friends. Then he meets Penny, a stubborn nearsighted four-year-old who is visiting with her mother from Solvidado, California, a small town on the Pacific Coast. That is where he enters the story in Where Fortune Lies. Franklin would have remained one of the exceptional forgotten men of history had not a hundred years later a honeymooning couple in Solvidado quarreled. The couple end up parting, believing their marriage of a few days is over. They did not reckon on being pulled into the events of the past. As they separately explore Solvidado over the course of an unsettling night, its secrets begin to unravel including a vicious crime, a forbidden romance, a lost treasure, and found love.

Upon arriving at Crescent Well in Hunting Island, SC, Mayline is thrust into a new light. She meets Thomas, an arrogant and confident young man, who lost the estate to her father. At first, he seems too piggish and prideful to be respectable, but that soon changes once he finds her inside the lighthouse located only a hundred feet away from the homestead. Together, the two learn to accept the past and look forward to a better future. This is a short story I wrote for a writing contest at my school. I really enjoyed my personal spin on the plot, and I hope you do, too! I might expand this universe in the future, as well.

Set just a few years before the Civil War shook the United States, these young men (and one woman disguised as a man) battle gun slinging cowboys, feared mercenaries, and territorial conflicts. Wild Bill and Buffalo Bill, two iconic figures of the Old West appear as major characters in their early years. My story takes place in Season 1.
