Soren Bay sees the world as broken. He judges people by flowers. It may seem strange at first, but a day in his mind may change your perspective. August Carter sees the world as beautiful. He judges people by their thoughts and opinions about life. Can complete opposites be a perfect match? Can one person nurture a dead flower to life, or is it too late?

Lily is a young girl who attempted suicide after being severely bullied by another girl at her school. In order to combat any more attempts, her mother sent her to a reform school, where Lily has been able to heal for a long time. Lily's about to be dismissed and "cured" when the bully from her old school ends up there with her! Will Lily be able to persevere? Or will she relapse? Hey all! Just letting you guys know this is a very rough draft. Constructive criticism would be appreciated. This is a work I one day hope to get published, so once it's finished I'm probably removing it from Wattpad. I'd love any opinions and I will do swaps! Love y'all! And thank you for reading Lily in Bloom!

Written for an English class, Broken Things is a short story about depression and how it and mental illness can sometimes be romanticized; made out to be more than it is. A person with mental illness can sometimes be seen as special or more interesting. This can sometimes inflame the negative attributes to whatever illness a person is afflicted with. Broken Things reinforces the message that broken things are not beautiful; that death is not beautiful. WARNING: It is recommended that those who have self-harmed or have had suicidal thoughts in the past not read this because of its graphic nature. This story has themes of suicide, cutting, and depression and can act as a trigger for those struggling with the illness. © Historically Insane Publishing; Copyright 2014.
