"the parable of the bridge and the river" tells the story of an empire that builds a perfect, unchanging bridge, declaring it eternal. over time, the living river secretly erodes the bridge's foundation, creating a fatal flaw. a young engineer discovers the flaw but is silenced by authorities who see any proposed change as an attack on perfection. recognizing that the system lacks a mechanism for its own correction, she takes radical, unauthorized action to strategically fracture and repair the foundation. she is put on trial but argues that her act was not sabotage but the necessary "antidote" the system itself lacked. the parable concludes with her being given the legitimized role to continuously find and fix hidden flaws, ensuring the system's longevity through sanctioned adaptation rather than rigid perfection.
