Anakin loses his mother and Padmé tries to both be there for him and come to terms with her chaotic feelings. A/N: People complain a lot about Padmé's reaction to Anakin confessing to murdering the Tusken Raiders, as well as the romance as a whole. I decided to write this scene out from her point of view, hopefully adding some depth to it - depth that I saw in the movie. The title is a reference to a poem out of Mary Oliver's "Thirst".

The title says it all. This is the story of what could have been, if Anakin Skywalker hadn't turned down the dark path that he did. I know this story is a very common prompt, but I would like to give my take on it. The story starts a little while after AOTC. The whole story will be Anidala, but I may include other ships later in the story, depending on how far I get. The chapters are quite long, so do not be scared away by the fact that there are not many chapters!

The event has created another ridge between the pair, and for Anakin Skywalker, that's not good news. It gets in the way of his goal of confessing his love to Padmé. He becomes desperate in trying to deliver the message to her, and there is a fine deadline in which he needs to. He and the senator both have yet another heavy burden to carry. For the Jedi, love is the only option. For the senator, it's one duty after another to accomplish, plus the added stress of a personal issue. Who did not have a soulmate as well yet didn't fuss over it like most people did. After the battle on Naboo, ten years have passed since they last saw each other. Then unexpectedly the Force flared violently just as a young woman fell on the floor of a hangar, with nothing but the clothes on her and her whip. With the name 'Anakin Skywalker' appearing immediately over her collarbone. What will Anakin do? What will he think once he sees- his supposed soulmate- that appeared out of nowhere? Will he choose the woman he has loved for the past ten years? Or will he choose his soulmate that he never thought existed? (I do not own Star Wars, I am just so obsessed with them now, lol! In an alternate Attack of the Clones, Anakin doesn't fall in love with Padme, but with Barriss Offee. Both have been emotionally stunted by the Jedi Code, and with no Jedi around on Naboo, who knows what will happen? ;)

Obi-Wan and Anakin are searching for Count Dooku and find some trouble along the way.
