A present day amateur yachtsman enjoying an unusual aurora display one winter's night near Auckland New Zealand inadvertently finds himself transported back in time to the Aotearoa New Zealand of 1250 AD, right at the time the legendary Polynesian explorer Kupe and his people arrived to settle the previously untouched prehistoric lands. Removed from his world and all the loved ones he's ever known, Jermaine struggles with his new reality of being trapped in time when giant moas still roamed the Earth, Rangitoto Island had yet to erupt into life, and Kupe and his followers began to lay the foundations for the new Maori culture in the lands of Aotearoa.

I've never thought about going back to Sunhill in the past ten years - but this winter, I went. The landscape of the McKenzie high country has been preserved very well - they look pretty much the same as a decade ago, but the settings of the ski area are totally different now.
