This is a short story I wrote for one of my university classes. I wanted to create an atmospheric and wintery story, following an apothecarist's apprentice as she navigates the rainy season to collect wild plants.

However, her course changed the moment she discovered that the emperor's two infants were critically ill. Using her pharmaceutical expertise acquired in the impoverished red-light district, she acted covertly. Although Maomao attempted to remain inconspicuous, her abilities captured the attention of Jinshi, a powerful eunuch. As such, she found herself in the emperor's inner circle, applying her unique personality and knowledge to unravel various medical enigmas and build a reputation for herself. all while another outside the palace has been keeping tabs on who is around MaoMai and where she goes.
