In the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, three children from poverty stricken southwestern Virginia save the life of a small dog. Three days later, in a neighboring town only a few miles away, a break-in occurs at an illegal top secret weapons lab. Both events unwittingly move the hands of the Doomsday Clock several minutes closer to midnight. With millions of dollars now at stake, thousands of lives hanging in the balance, and the fate of the nation's capitol dangling precariously on the edge, the fate of everyone that comes in contact with the G.I.Z.M.O. could potentially become one of hero or villain. However, if the clock runs out and strikes twelve, anyone involved will be written into history as a mass-murderer of thousands. Copyright © 2018 by C A Malosh All rights reserved. Bow Clemens is a spritely child growing up in an alternate future where magic is real, becoming the basis for technology in 2025. While society has advanced in exciting, mystifying ways, culture and values have remained stagnant. Our story will find young Bow grappling with their sense of self and layered identity as they navigate an exciting but somewhat hostile world of magic possibilities and hidden agendas. The story takes place in lower Appalachia and will follow Bow's coming of age in an episodic fashion. Bow will come face to face with cryptids, monsters, spirits and the most dreadful adversaries of all: human schoolchildren. Based on the author's life growing up in Southeastern Kentucky, the story will engage readers of all ages, especially those drawn to LGBT themes and mystical settings. The story is a work in progress and will take place from multiple points of view, switching from Bow's recollection of the past in a memoir like fashion with transitions to first person experiences of dramatic encounters.

Magic in the Appalachian Mountains wasn't something learned from books. It was passed down in quiet conversations, in the gathering of herbs and stones, in the work of those who knew how to heal and protect. Scots-Irish settlers brought their ways, mixing them with the knowledge of the people already here. It wasn't a thing of mystery-it was a part of living. My Uncle Grant lived by it. Some called him a warlock, others a healer. Plenty feared him, but just as many came to him when they had nowhere else to turn. Magic wasn't separate from life-it was knowing which root to pull, which stone to carry, what words to speak when trouble came. It was survival. It still is.

The only thing he's sure about is his loneliness, but that has never been a problem for him. Until his friends force him to the fair. It's shaping up to be a normal, miserable night at the fair when he runs into a guy he swears he can remember while waiting in line at the Ferris wheel: Bennett. Bennett's the exact opposite of Cole: self-assured, outspoken, and a real adventurer. So when Bennett says something unexpected, Cole must decide if he wants to go on the way he always has or if he is ready to take the wheel and become happier than he ever thought possible. ________________________ The Ferris Wheel is a cute, feel-good gay romance.
