Blaire zoned out for most of the choosing ceremony. She only paid attention when a certain name was called. 'Blaire Summers,' Marcus, leader of Abnegation, called. She made eye contact with his dark cold eyes. She picked up the knife and sliced her palm. Closing her eyes, she held her hand over the Dauntless coals. Only when she heard that satisfying sound of sizzling coals did she dare open her eyes. An uproar of cheers erupted from the Dauntless section, much like they had for every new initiate. Blaire once again let her mind wander until she heard the only other choice she cared about. 'Emma Oakwood,' Marcus called. Blaire watched eagerly as Emma cut her palm. 'Dauntless,' Marcus announced. The War changed everything, but the biggest change was yet to come. The society was going to be divided into 5 Factions - Abnegation, Amity, Erudite, Condor and Dauntless, each of them led by different priorities, each of them trying to find peace and new meaning in this New World. It's only been 34 years since the War happened in year 2020 and 30 since the new Chicago City was founded and the new social structure was introduced. Many people still remember what it was like before the War. It's hard for them to fit in, but they have to try as best as they can for the sake of the whole community. People born into this world have it easier, but sometimes it's still difficult to find the right way. The Aptitude Test is supposed to help people see their destiny and where they belong. Most of them get a clear answer, but some are conflicted. After The Choosing Ceremony, the contact between the members of one family from different Factions is forbidden. "Faction before Blood" they say, but how are you supposed to forget about someone, with whom you've spent your whole life? There are exceptions of course, but there is less and less of them made nowadays. Go on a journey with characters from different worlds, trying to find themselves and each other and answers to many questions they have. Can you love someone who is the complete opposite of you? Does it get easier over the years? What are you prepared to do for the ones you love? And most importantly, is it possible for two people, from two fundamentally different worlds, to trust and understand each other enough to fall in love? True love prevails..so they say.
