No one could see, the crops withered, and the village grew cold. Our Inca, or king, came up with a solution. We would sacrifice some of our young women to Inti and hope the sun would rise again. After the sacrificial ceremony, the village waited. The next day, the sun had risen and all was good. Since that day, a sacrifice has been made every night to please the sun god. Zara was a wonderful girl. She was beautiful, clever, and everything good in a person. However, she was a soon-to-be sacrifice to Inti. Even worse: her fate was chosen just days after her birth. As most would think, she should be upset with how cruelly she was to die. But she was not. It is an honor to be given up to Inti for the good of the people. That is, until she meets Khuno.
