It's been five years since the covert ops team of the Justice League was formed. A lot can happen. A lot has happened. Death, loss, pain, betrayal, happiness, joy, love, and excitement as team members come and go. Even with all this excitement, even with all that's going on, and with all the new friends and teammates and proteges, the team's original nine members can't help but feel like something is missing. It doesn't help that when Blue Beetle, aka Jaime Reyes, and his best friend the Brass Beetle, join the team towards the end of the year 2015, there is something distinctly familiar about the two, even though the teens insist that they've never personally met any of the heroes before. Then one day, one day, nearly a month after the fateful Reach invasion and the death of the original Kid Flash, it all comes rushing back. ------- I ran to the mission room, trying to ignore the vibration humming through the station that made my legs feel like jelly. Artemis, Zatanna, M'gann, Connor, Raquel, and Aqualad were already there, staring in astonishment at a fading light in the center of the room. When the light cleared, there were ten kids standing in the center of the room. My brain felt a bit fuzzy, but I felt like I knew some of them. Like the girl with Blue Beetle's armor, or the boy wearing a magician's suit like Zatanna's. Then one of the older-looking girls looked up at me. Long blonde ponytail, pale skin, red shirt, black pants and piercing green eyes. I did know them. I knew her. Her name was Sandy, and she was my daughter from the future.

After the invasion of the Reach and after the world was saved, she finally had her chance to talk to him. She never had the chance after Tula died. Tula, also known as Aquagirl, and also her teacher. After Jasmine Karr found out she was half human and half Atlantean after San Diego sunk into the ocean she's been getting use to her new underwater life. Arthur Curry, Aquaman and his wife Mera took in the young girl. Mera then became her teacher in Atlantean Sorcery. When Mera is unable to help Jasmine with her studies, Tula was the one to step in. She would tell Jasmine the stories of her good friend Kaldur'ahm and that one day she hoped to she would get to meet him as well. But after Tula's death, that time had to wait. Now, she's able to ask the big question she's been meaning to ask since Tula's death, will Jasmine be able to become the new Aquagirl? Lorena is torn between two worlds: her strange new abilities bring her to Atlantis, but her mannerisms and lack of magical aptitude mark her apart from everyone there, and those same new abilities prevent her from continuing her life in San Diego as normal. Kaldur'ahm is torn between two duties: his duty to Atlantis, his home, and his king, and his duty to his new friends and team of heroes that rely on him for leadership. Only Lorena and Kaldur really understand each other's plight. They're really the only people who will listen to each other. Lorena teaches him about his new home in the surface world, and Kaldur teaches her about her new life in Atlantis, and they both stick up for each other. Lorena is finally able to join Kaldur's team, and she's ecstatic, at least until she is approached by Ocean Master, who offers to help her discover more about her powers.
