Novella and her twin brother Regulus are born on June 25th 1961 to Walburga and Orion Black who are actually cousins as well as husband and wife. Sirius, older brother to the twins is nearly 2 when they are born, Sirius being born on the 3rd of November 1959. And their big sister Aquila Black who was born on the 8th February 1960. Regulus is older than Novella by half an hour. Chapter called "the stars align".

Regulus tries to stop his twin sister Novella Black and their older brother Sirius Black and older sister Aquila Black from leaving home. And Regulus does it with force, managing to keep his twin sister Novella trapped at home. Because he knows he can't trap all three. He's not very nice to his own twin sister and treats her like dirt, making her terrified of him. But Sirius and Aquila won't leave her there. They will try to come back for their little sister.
