I basically give every ship a chance, I may not have thought about it... but now, I think it's cute. Or it's super bad. Karkat Vantas is A. H. Lawndale Prep's "it" boy. Always the lead of every play in middle school, the freshman Vantas expects high school to be no different. He wants out of his brother Kankri's shadow. Kankri and his boyfriend Cronus had their time in the spotlight; now, it's Karkat's time to shine. High school is bigger, brighter, and more exciting than middle school, and if his Broadway dreams are ever going to come true, Karkat has to be the star of everything. The lead in the Fall musical is as good as his, or so he thinks. A shy new kid, a certain Dave Strider, has recently enrolled, and even though he starts classes about a month into the year, it looks like he could pose a threat to Karkat's unrivaled lead spot in Peter Pan. It's already bad enough that this rendition of the play has been rewritten (very poorly mind you) by Tavros Nitram, the school's resident wannabe Shakespeare, but now the new kid is trying to steal Karkat's role? Meanwhile, Karkat's old nemesis Eridan is facing his own problems. His ex, Feferi Peixis, is beginning to outshine, or rather outswim, him on the intramural swim club. Resolute and convinced he must be better than his brother Cronus, who was not only captain of the swim club but also a star on stage, Eridan convinces Karkat to team up with him. Will Eridan sink or swim? And what of Karkat?
