Three years after Jinx's fatal attack on the Council, the city of Zaun is in worse straits than ever. Struck with a suffocating embargo and with its citizens and merchants terrorized by a brutal new gang lord, the city is desperate for something, anything to change. Martin, a young Zaunite thief, goes on a heist to steal a shipment of Hextech, only to have it all go wrong at the hands of Jinx, who has returned to her old stomping grounds after several years of absence. When Caitlyn and Vi of the Enforcers go to investigate the wreckage, they soon learn that not all is what it seems within the ranks of the Enforcers, and Vi becomes desperate to try to reconnect with Jinx after their last meeting turned into a nearly fatal fight. As Jinx and Martin start to team up to perform ever more daring robberies, they begin running afoul of the various factions in the two cities, incurring the wrath of ever-more-powerful enemies. Their partnership soon becomes to a struggle for survival.

This is a synopsis of my Ghosts Of Our Pasts story, which is book 1 in the "Final Reckoning: The Fate Of Jinx" trilogy. I wrote this as a convenience for people who might be interested in reading book 2 (Champions of Zaun), but are daunted by the 240K words of the first book. (No judgment here, I get it!) Or if you just want to refresh what happened after reading the entirety of the first book! This synopsis, though long, should allow you to catch up on all the main (and side) plot lines.

«They don't even bother to check who the new students are before giving them the green light. A Zaunite? Seriously?». A female voice accompanied those words, and it was the most nerve-wracking and annoying voice Vi ever heard. She had no idea why that accent sounded like that; it definitely wasn't from Piltover, maybe it hinted at the foreign origins of the girl. «Oh, I apologize if I didn't wait for your permission to be here. But don't worry, I'm not here to talk to someone who won't lower themselves to the levels of the slums. A Zaunite? Yeah, seriously. And I'd advise you not to underestimate me». She usually would've responded sarcastically, but the words came out more aggressively than she intended. Only then did she turn around, and the urge to argue disappeared the moment her gaze landed on the girl. She was definitely not from around here. Or The Alternative Universe where two personalities and two completely different stories - but with similar facets - cross paths in the halls of the Law Faculty of Piltover's most prestigious institute. Everything about them screams "difference", but when life steps in, it's capable of surprising in unique ways.

Caitlyn too feels upset by the tragic passing of her mother in the incident. They both need to find ways to comfort eachother, and in doing so admit their feelings for eachother🤭🏳️‍🌈

Zaun and Piltover have their differences, but that doesn't stop both cities from creating genius inventors. Enter Viktor, a Zaunite, who was specially selected to join one of Piltover's academies. Despite Viktor's appearance and where he came from, a well-known student in the academy named Jayce Talis became interested in him. However, things progress as they begin to connect more. They'd try to shoot their shots, or they'd try to make new excuses and stupid reasons. Only to stop the feeling.
