Sawyer, the son of the late Vander stands on a wire, between the gritty, oppressed Zaun, and the shiny, prestigious City of Progress, Piltover. He'd been born in one, yet he had been shaped by the shadow of the other. He knows that if he steps off the wire, that choice will be what defines him. If he stepped off the wire, the world would call that a choice. But Sawyer knows better. A fall is never a choice - only a consequence. A real choice required intention. Stepping back, he chooses Zaun. Moving forward, he chooses Piltover. And whichever direction he moves, something in him will die so something else can live. That is, if everything wasn't dead the moment he pulled the pin the first time. Sometimes, he wonders what his mother would do. He wonders what his father would do. What would anyone who wasn't named Sawyer do? "You were never broken, you were just desperate, so you let the darkness in because it was the only thing that stayed when everything else left."

Viktor Čapek has never met Jayce Talis in his life. Sure, they have a few classes together, but they've exchanged nothing more than mindless glances. Viktor is too focused on his studies to even think about trying to make new friends. Jayce, though also preoccupied with his studies, already has a group of friends that are near and dear to him. So, when Viktor has a dream concerning Jayce, he chalks it up to being sleep-deprived. Perhaps he's just been staying up too late studying. But then, the dreams continue, becoming more vivid each time. Sometimes, he's having a conversation with Jayce; sometimes, they're working together on strange-looking experiments in a dimly lit lab. It's not long before these dreams begin to feel more like memories. Jayce, meanwhile, finds himself daydreaming about Viktor in the middle of class. That, in itself, wasn't unusual - he had a bad habit of zoning out when he got bored - but every one of these daydreams was centered around Viktor. Often he sees himself hunched over a lab table next to Viktor, working alongside the man in comfortable silence. Other times, he swears he can hear snippets of a conversation held between him and Viktor. Every time, he feels a deep sense of déjà vu, like these events have somehow already happened to him. It's clear that having normal college lives at Piltover University simply isn't in the cards for these two. The universe has no plans to sit back and let them avoid one another - at least, not for long.

The story of a girl who was taken from the Undercity to Piltover as a symbol of peace between the two areas. She was adopted into a wealthy family and was only really used as a figurative symbol to keep the Undercity and Piltover in check. Jayce and Viktor have plans to go out to dinner together. Viktor isn't one for special, romantic dates, but for Jayce, he's willing to try.
