Ze should've known the day was going to take a turn. He should've known when he woke up and his gut gave him the feeling of impending doom-something was wrong. There was something in the air. Or maybe it was the ground that felt weird. Or maybe it was the fact that he was in hell and he should just expect things to get as ridiculous as they have been.
