Athens is under the merciless rule of the island of Crete and its cruel leader--King Minos. Periodically, he calls for shipments of children and young adults to be sent to Crete where he disposes of them at his own pleasure through sick methods of torture. When 14-year-old Xenia is chosen, she faces a dangerous journey ahead of her, and she knows it.
