Arlen has lived in a shelter his whole life without any clue to as how he got there. The only clue are books kept in the library that tell the population of the shelter how to live and what not to do. The books read never to exit the shelter but Arlen is about to go against the books and escape.

I stood tall, lifting my chin to meet his gaze. He sat upon the golden throne, and I remained below. Was I afraid? I couldn't say for certain.
