*THIS IS A CANON-DIVERGENT RETELLING OF 2017'S HEY ARNOLD! THE JUNGLE MOVIE* I wrote this story from 2005-2011, back when The Jungle Movie looked like it had a snowball's chance of being developed. In the original edit of the story, I gave Arnold the last name of Schwartz; official canon confirms that his last name is actually Shortman. Fan consensus at the time had already come to this conclusion, so when I re-released the story on Deviantart, that was one of the first changes I made. At the time when I initially wrote the story, it was script format, as I wasn't quite comfortable with writing traditional narrative. Now, with several other fanfics under my belt, I feel like it's time to re-visit the story one final time and present it in a way that most fans would prefer to have it read. It may seem redundant to post this again now that the story was officially concluded in 2017, but I'd like one final opportunity to express what I was hoping for from The Jungle Movie. Sid is just an average un-popular kid that attends Hillwood's PS. 118. One day he accidentally bumps into a new kid named Lorenzo (aka. The Rich Kid). Through a combination of their mutual love for a certain comic book hero and being partnered for a history project, the two 9 year-olds form an unlikely friendship despite being on two different sides of the track. Or at least....Sid thinks he's becoming friends with The Rich Kid. However, his insecurity over his low-income background and less-than-ideal family situation complicates matters. This is a reimagining of the Arnold's Room episode that places more focus on developing the friendship between Sid and Lorenzo. Both of their home lives and backstories are also explored.

Slight A/U. AxH. Arnold has never been one to give up, but sometimes, his brash nature gets him into trouble. Trying to get his feelings known, he causes a major problem last Christmas at the dance. Can he make it right, & maybe even win the affections of the one he wronged? Lucky for him Christmas comes once a year, and this year, to save them from tears, it has to be special.

Arnold moved away for his Middle school year of school.. and now he's back in town. It's Arnold and the gang's freshman year in Hillwood High. Helga and Arnold haven't gotten their feelings figured out just yet so please stay tuned to find out if these two love birds make it or break it. Will Helga forgive him for leaving? Will they even remember each other? How will it end?! I don't know.... I'm rewriting this book as we speak so I don't know. All will be revealed in the next chapter of the Hey Arnold fan fiction series. 🙂

Helga reads of others who have also suffered unriquented love, and their ways of dealing with it is hard for her to come to terms with. What will she do while trying to finally get over arnold and start loving herself and slowly falling for her best friend.
